Leaky Gut – It’s A Real Thing!

When most women go through menopause they often get a bloated gut, gain weight in the middle/front and develop all sorts of stomach issues.  You don’t know what’s wrong. You’ve tried every diet and latest fad on the market, starved yourself, plus you go to the gym and still you just can’t get rid of that excess weight.

The issues you face are very real and I’m here to tell you that there is an answer – leaky gut.  Wait. What?  That sounds horrible, I know, but it’s a real thing and it goes hand-in-hand with menopause, Crone’s Disease and IBS, as well as other gut disorders.

Inside our bellies, we have an extensive intestinal lining covering more than 4,000 square feet of surface area. When working properly, it forms a tight barrier that controls what gets absorbed into the bloodstream. An unhealthy gut lining may develop large cracks or holes, allowing partially digested food and toxins, to penetrate the tissues beneath it. This may trigger inflammation and changes in the gut flora (normal bacteria) that could lead to problems within the digestive tract and beyond.

So, what does that mean?  As the intestinal lining thins due to menopause, other stomach diseases, excess sugars, alcohol, stress, and all the bad foods we eat, tiny holes can form, which allow toxins from food just lying in your gut to leak into your body.  From your gut into your body, to your blood stream, and then it get carried from organ to organ until it settles into muscles, your heart and brain.

Because of this you can experience all over muscle inflammation, brain fog, IBS, bloating, excessive gas, cramping and all sorts of food allergies.  How do you fix it?  By taking Butyrate.  Gut bacteria produce butyrate, an important short-chain fatty acid that supports digestive health, helps control inflammation, and even aids in preventing disease.  Your body produces less butyrate than other short-chain fatty acids, but it has many health benefits. It is needed for your overall gut health, as well as helping to make energy for some of your gut cells. Plus, it can plug a leaky gut and even help stabilize blood sugar and cholesterol levels.

Butyrate fuels colonocytes, and in return your gut cells help provide an oxygen-free environment in which beneficial gut microbes thrive. This keeps inflammation in check, gut cells healthy, and gut bacteria happy. You will lose weight, your mind will clear, and your stomach will no longer have the menopot.

Not all Butyrate supplements work and many won’t make it past your stomach acid in order to get to your intestines. I’ve found that Enteroite by Apex Energetics work well for me. I take two a day. Within two weeks I noticed a little difference, but by six weeks my all over muscle inflammation was gone, my brain fog cleared and I was able to exercise more.

There are natural foods to get to help your gut produce its own Butyrate, but you’d have to eat a heck of a lot of it.  Supplements are a good choice.

Do your research. Find what’s best for you and good luck on your healthy witchy journey!
